Elected Officers & Volunteer Opportunities

Parliamentarian

  1.  Chair the bylaws and standing rules committee.

Arts in Education

  1. Promote National PTA Reflections Program.
  2. Coordinate local unit entries by publicizing, receiving, judging and forwarding winning entries in each category to Wylie Council of PTAs.
  3. Assist Council with Reflections program where necessary
  4. Promote art education with the school

Community Outreach

  1. Responsible for implementing and coordinating community outreach projects and programs with a goal to increase community service and awareness across Wylie East.
  2. Work with the Council chair to coordinate Wylie East involvement with the Wylie Outfitters program.

Environmental

  1. Develop programs and projects that will enhance the beauty of the school and community and to promote environmental education for students and the general public.
  2. Coordinate activities with the school administration.
  3. Participate in the district wide paper recycling contest.

Senior Parent

  1. Coordinate fundraising for senior class gift to school.
  2. Coordinate fundraising for the end of the year senior class celebration.
  3. Promote senior involvement with PTSA programs and events.
  4. Organize the end of the year senior class celebration.

Spirit wear

  1. Coordinate design, printing and sales of spirit items.
  2. Obtain approval of the executive board and school principal on all designs for spirit wear and accessories.
  3. Schedule volunteers to work at spirit table during school events.

Staff Appreciation

  1. Providing Back to School, Teacher/Parent Conferences Night and Teacher Appreciation events for the faculty and staff, which include:
    • Coordinating food item donations;
    • Securing volunteers to serve; and
    • Reserving school location for the events.
    • Coordinate activities for Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

Volunteer

  1. Recruit volunteers throughout the year for all PTSA events.
  2. Compile and enter all volunteer information into database.
  3. Distribute volunteer information to execute board when needed.
  4. Confirm with administration that all volunteers have completed a criminal background check with the district.
  5. Coordinate selection of Volunteer of the Year and responsible for submitting nominee to the Council for District Volunteers of the Year.

Council PTA Delegates

  1. Participate fully in Council PTA discussions and deliberations;
  2. Report announcements, important actions and the Council PTA program to this Local PTSA membership and executive board;
  3. Seek information or approval from the membership on matters referred to this Local PTSA for such approval or information; and
  4. Report and/or vote as directed by the Local PTSA membership at the Council PTA meeting.
  5. Promote/assist in all Council projects: ie. WISD Education Gala with the Wylie ISD Educational Foundation and Teacher of the Year Recognition.

9th Grade Student Liaison

  1. Serve as a communication link between the students and PTSA; and
  2. Solicit student input.

10th Grade Student Liaison

  1. Serve as a communication link between the students and PTSA; and
  2. Solicit student input.

11th Grade Student Liaison

  1. Serve as a communication link between the students and PTSA; and
  2. Solicit student input.

12th Grade Student Liaison

  1. Serve as a communication link between the students and PTSA; and
  2. Solicit student input.
